Has any one used a hop spider? Or, a similar device?

I found this article on BYO (http://byo.com/component/k2/item/2427-build-a-hop-spider-projects), but wonder whether limiting the hops circulation has an effect on the utilization rate?

I've had one hoppy batch of beer clog up my plate chiller. I'd prefer NOT to have that happen again.

Thanks for your ideas. Hoppy Holidays.

We used one for a couple of brews, it does a great job of keeping hops out, we go back and forth with it, I think for us the down side was that it seemed like the hop flowers floated in there for quite some time, left us wondering if it was under utilizing the hops. good news is its cheap to build and try.
